The warp is 10/2 cotton and the weft is 20/2 cotton, in a complementary color scheme. The piece is a 24 shaft straight twill with a complex tie-up with an advancing twill treadling with a portion of a networked treadling thrown in to develop the "flower" design area. By Dottie Smith

Terri Tinkham started the group in the fall of 1997, following Portland, OR Convergence and her acquisition of a 24 shaft Louet Magic dobby loom. Terri has become involved in equestrian endurance riding, and passed on her duties as chair. Dottie Smith, with Sue Peters assisting, assumed responsibility of the group in the spring of 2004. The format of the group will change a bit as Dottie splits her residence between Mosier, Oregon and Creede, Colorado. The one certain time that the two live just across the Columbia River from each other is late fall/early winter. Therefore, the group will not be quite as flexible as it has been.

We will do a woven sample exchange once a year. Anyone interested in using drafts with a minimum of 17 shafts is welcomed to join. Those with more than 24 shafts are also welcomed. This group encourages all levels of weaving. There are no limitations as to structure, fiber, or design. The sky is the limit. We do ask that you submit a record sheet including the complete draft, software, loom, warp and weft yarns, sett and picks per inch with the woven sample. We encourage you to design your drafts so that your woven samples will have at least two repeats of the threading and treadling if possible. Stand-alone motifs may be woven as just a single repeat. A discussion of problems encountered, design thoughts, and notes of interest should be included. Please put the name of the study group and the date on all sheets. In addition, the first page should have your name at the top, along with your address, phone number and email.

New members should contact Dottie Smith for a membership form. Forms and dues can be sent back to her. A letter of invitation to the current membership is sent by June 1st. Dues and membership forms need to be sent to Dottie Smith at her Creede, CO address by mid-July. A membership list and the count for the number of samples required will be mailed August 1st. Woven samples are due after October 20th to Dottie at her Mosier, OR address. Dottie and Sue will compile the exchange and have it mailed by December 1st. Samples coming in after December 1st will be held for the following year's exchange. This is a change from pre-2004 exchanges.
